I had a bit of fun this morning. Mom went into the office to get her
email, and the 2wire gateway was dead. Tried plugging the a/c adapter into
another socket, nothing. Figuring that the gateway itself was dead, I
figured I would test it with an old a/c adapter that was close. It lit up,
but wouldn't 'work' due to the lower amperage. A quick trip to the Brady
St. Radio Shack solved the problem for all of $10.
# 273-1763 6v mini a/c adapter
# 273-1717 adaptaplug - N tip
When I called ATT to see if I could get a replacement a/c adapter, their
only solution was to replace the whole gateway, which would cost at least
$79. Funny that they don't have replacement parts for what they sell....
I did some more digging, and apparently, 2wire has a LOT of problems with
their a/c adapters. I called ATT back to let them know I had solved the
problem on my own. The person who answered didn't believe me when I told
him that I had solved the problem for under $10.
The above parts seem to work for the 1000H/HW and the 1800 gateways. I
hope this info might help someone who might run into this problem.
