Geek Squad is usually useless when it comes to anything Linux related, or at
least that's my impression. If they've improved, someone please correct me.

Just to check the easy fixes: You did try resizing or deleting the large
160GB Vista partition first, right? When there is a bootable Vista install,
are you able to mount the volume and see files from a live cd?
