Good Morning, When I got up this morning I read all the messages and
there is one thing that I haven't seen anyone mention. Being somewhat
new to Linux, I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 now, I have had lots of problems
with Vista / Linux. The problem you are having is a new one to me.
However, I think one thing I would try before I bought a new computer
would be to do a "low level format" using "fdisk". That will take your
drive back to it's original condition with "Everything" written over.
Then do a Ubuntu install. If you decide to give that a try, Google
"download fdisk" and you should get a number of places to get it. If
you want some help I have it on a 3/12" disk and would be glad to give
you a hand at my house or wherever you want. I have a external 3 1/2"
drive (USB) so we should be alright. Let me know if I can be of help.
