Which dv 7 is it? Specifically, do you know what wireless card is
installed? It could very well be an issue with the driver. If it is
atheros-based, Ubuntu 9.04 defaults to using the ath5k driver, which
has some known compatibility problems. They include the madwifi
drivers, but don't use them as default do to the licensing.
Somewhere in the settings (I can't recall at this second and am away
from my laptop), there is an icon for "Alternate Drivers" or something
of the like. That should show you if there are any alternate drivers
for your wireless card you can use.
