I also installed it on an extra SATA drive in my Core i7 machine. Here were
my notes upon trying it out.

*Not a big fan of Ubuntu after experiencing Fedora and Slackware, but it
runs alright for the most part. Startup was quicker than before, loading
times on background processes were nearly instant. - Big improvement.

It's a big change from 9.04. A bit more stable as far as multitasking and
other basic computing. It can be a little janky on the graphics end, if
you're dependent on that, but that's not just an Ubuntu thing. I had some
issues with other distros as well before finding the appropriate solution. I
noticed some of the Gnome configuration menu options weren't there as well.

The flow of information on 9.10 seems more fluid. I've yet to experience any
instabilities or dead ends. This could also be the machine Ubuntu was
installed on...
*
*I dislike sharing the basic user password with the root password. Of
course, this could be changed, but I'm also focusing on people who aren't
well versed with Linux.*

*They've worked out a new package manager and integrated Ubuntu One, which
is something I thought was neat. 2gb of file storage networked from the
desktop to other users. Really neat. Their new package manager was even
simpler as well as aesthetically pleasing, not that important, but added to
the presentation.*

All in all, if you're looking for a simplified version of Linux with a good
"out of the box" setup and increased stability than previous releases, I'd
recommend it. For people who are seasoned users, stick with your distro.
