I also installed it on an extra SATA drive in my Core i7 machine. Here were=
my notes upon trying it out.

Not a big fan of Ubuntu after exper=
iencing Fedora and Slackware, but it runs alright for the most part. Startu=
p was quicker than before, loading times on background processes were nearl=
y instant. - Big improvement.

It's a big change from 9.04. A bit more stable as far as multitaski=
ng and other basic computing. It can be a little janky on the graphics end,=
if you're dependent on that, but that's not just an Ubuntu thing. =
I had some issues with other distros as well before finding the appropriate=
solution. I noticed some of the Gnome configuration menu options weren'=
;t there as well.

The flow of information on 9.10 seems more fluid. I've yet to exper=
ience any instabilities or dead ends. This could also be the machine Ubuntu=
was installed on...

I dislike sharing the basic user pass=
word with the root password. Of course, this could be changed, but I'm =
also focusing on people who aren't well versed with Linux.

They've worked out a new package manager and integrated Ubuntu O=
ne, which is something I thought was neat. 2gb of file storage networked fr=
om the desktop to other users. Really neat. Their new package manager was e=
ven simpler as well as aesthetically pleasing, not that important, but adde=
d to the presentation.

All in all, if you're looking for a simplified version of Linux wit=
h a good "out of the box" setup and increased stability than prev=
ious releases, I'd recommend it. For people who are seasoned users, sti=
ck with your distro.
