on ebay you can find a cheap usb wireless card with external ant for about =
$18 ( come with 5DB ant but you can hook other things into them )

So=
metime wireless access points need to be rebooted / reset often ( seems the=
more options enabled the worse they can get ) i tend to have weird prob=
lems for example on some linux connects every time but after awhile windows=
boxes would drop or the ps3 would not connect and sometimes nothing wou=
ld . unpluging it for a bit would let everything connect (my access point o=
nly have wireless enabled and is used only as a pass through to my home net=
work)
I figured it out. It wasn't a Linux or computer problem. It was a bad r=
outer. I had the same problem with my old Linksys router so I bought a new =
"N" router. Since I had the same problem with it I figured it had=
to be Linux or the computer. Later I figured out the same problem existed =
with Windows so it wasn't Linux. I took it to the Library and tried it =
on their 3 networks and didn't have a problem. I replaced the router wi=
th a Netgear "N" router and it seems to work fine. I did notice t=
hat once in a while the connection strength will drop from 100% down to abo=
ut 15% and then right back up. Don't know what causes that. Had a big d=
rop from time to time at the library also. If I have problems again I will =
try a new external card in my laptop.

Thank You Steve, I wasn't smart enough to change the name of the bac=

It's not obvious, but it's necessary to ensure that users don't=
get a whole
*different* set of backports when they upgrade between releases.
I installed it again yesterday, the forth time, and it seems to be better.<=

I'll watch it close and if it fails again I'll give the jaunty back=
port a
try. I assume that I'll have to install the NDISWrapper to get that to<=

work.
ndiswrapper is unrelated to the backports package.
Good luck,
